The Arc US has an initiative to support the safety of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities when they must interact with law enforcement.

The BE SAFE curriculum teaches important skills for safely and effectively interacting with first responders such as EMTs and police officers.
The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing through information and grant resources. The COPS Office publishes materials for law enforcement and community stakeholders and has collaborated with the Arc of the United States to offer a series of podcasts, articles for law enforcement, and a five-part video series that can be used as roll call training and as a supplement to in-service training.
